Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The LPN provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
This performance evaluation is based on these standards. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include providing skilled nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team, following the plan of care, and performing duties in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Education- Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
- Registered with the Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure for practice in the Licensed Practical Nurse expanded role.
- Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
- Appropriate nursing practice/experience within the past three (3) years.
- Work involves regular requirements to move about the office and facility and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area.
- Exert a moderate amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
- Use of repetitive motions (hands, wrists, fingers) with standard office equipment.
- Ability to perceive sound, near and distant vision, and to shift gaze between computer monitors and printed materials.
- Active for extended periods; ability to work shifts as assigned, with possible changes for hospital needs.
- Must safely move, lift, and handle supplies, equipment, and patients (up to 350 pounds) with assistance and safe lifting practices.
- Strong mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations.
- Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships.
- Must have a valid driver license as travel may be required.
- Strong general computer skills; basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred.
