Essential Duties- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Taylor, Hyster, Kalmar, Mafi, Ottawa and Capacity Container Handling equipment such as yard hustlers, top loaders, forklifts, etc.
- Perform maintenance and repair on terminal vehicles including pickup trucks and vans.
- Primary contact for diagnosing problems with electric-powered forklifts.
- Perform preventive maintenance on stevedoring equipment; plug in and check fluid levels for electric forklift batteries daily.
- Complete written inspection report, work order, and parts list. Must seek repair authorization and approval for parts that are not in parts inventory.
- Deliver and position equipment for various stevedoring activities, remain on site to perform emergency repairs during vessel/terminal operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work flexible hours as dictated by business need.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years in mechanical, utility, and/or maintenance experience with internal combustion engines, diesel engines, transmissions, and/or brake systems
- Basic set of mechanics hand and air tools at least up to 1 1/2” wrenches, sockets, metric, and standard
- Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Basic written communication skills required for completion of daily reports.
- Ability to train others on software applications that support the department’s operations.
- Climb up and down on equipment and ladders.
- Work in changing hot and cold climates based on weather conditions.
- Work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment.
- Stand long period of times.
- Lift, push, and or pull up to 50lbs.
