Overview
The Medical Assistant works under the supervision of the Physician responsible for patient care management. He/She provides patient care in a caring and professional manner and assists front office personnel as directed by the Practice/Office Manager.
Qualifications- Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- License: N/A
- Certifications: Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
- Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Reports to: Service Line Operations Coordinator, as well as under the direction of the Physician responsible for patient care management as applicable.
- Supervises: None
- Physical Demands: Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent movement about the office and facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Requires lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling or moving objects, including the human body, as needed.
- Other: Work involves exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues, and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers while using standard office equipment (e.g., computer keyboard).
- Mental Demands: Must demonstrate keen mental faculties and decision-making abilities. Must have superior communication skills (in person and by telephone), strong written and verbal communication, emotional stability, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Special Demands: Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficiency with computers and office technology (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word), and other devices (phone, fax, etc.).
Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
