This position is for a Contract Speech Language Pathologist with the South MS Regional Center in Long Beach, MS.

SMRC – Long Beach, MS

$60 per hour.

• Assess the communication skills of individuals living on the South Mississippi Regional Center campus.
• Educate, instruct, and make recommendations for communication strategies, awareness, and empowerment.
• Complete assessments for all individuals, train staff on communication disorders and strategies for alternative communication, and implement related programs.
• Write and review documentation related to assessments and submit paperwork to the appropriate department/person.
• Conduct evaluations, hearing and vision screenings for people with intellectual disabilities who live in the community and come to the diagnostic and evaluation department for community evaluations.
• Conduct observations of people living at South Mississippi Regional Center during daily activities, classroom setting, etc. to determine possible communication breakdowns and implement strategies or alternative communication.
• Read and respond to email requests related to individual communication concerns.

• Specialized degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
• State licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in Mississippi.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred.
