Surgical Technologist – Singing River Gulfport | Part-Time | Dayshift w/ rotating call

The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The role requires understanding the procedure being performed and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The Technologist ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintains the sterile field, actively supervising for safety. This role assists in the preparation of the room before surgery and is accountable for all items required for the surgical table, including instrumentation and sutures.
Responsibilities- Assist in preparation of the operating room and ensure all required instrumentation and supplies are ready for procedures.
- Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure and maintain a sterile environment.
- Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Ensure compliance with Singing River Health System procedures, policies, and applicable accreditation and governing guidance.
- Education

High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred. - License

Current Surgical Technologist Certification preferred. Must complete and maintain current BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. De-escalation training must be completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) at the appropriate level. - Experience

Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred. - Reports To

Work involves standing for extended periods, frequent movement, and exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues. Requires ability to lift/move supplies and equipment with assistance as needed. Must have visual and auditory acuity and the ability to work under high-stress conditions and meet deadlines. Some travel within the SRHS service area may be required and must have transportation.
Special DemandsMust possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficient computer skills (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word) and office technology use. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment within the approved scope of practice and AST process standards.
