Xray Technologist - Shoreline Medical Center - Per Diem

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, the Xray Technologist performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist.

All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. To meet the staffing needs, staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations.

• Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, utilizing appropriate protocols and age‑specific standards.
• Verifies physician orders on requisitions 100% of the time.
• Operates radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results, and conducts daily inspections to ensure performance and image quality.
• Prepares examination room to ensure a clean and safe environment with adequate supplies.
• Replaces used supplies immediately after patient dismissal.
• Provides compassionate patient care, using age‑specific standards to ensure cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
• Explains procedures thoroughly to ensure physical and emotional comfort.
• Performs record‑keeping, customer‑service functions, and communicates feedback to ensure departmental goals are met.
• Edits and completes examinations in Imagecast to ensure proper documentation and billing.
• Participates in teaching and learning opportunities to expand personal and team knowledge.
• Engages patients in a friendly, courteous manner and explains procedures, addresses comfort issues, and follows up after completion to enhance patient experience. Meets or exceeds patient satisfaction goals set by the department.

• Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program (AS degree preferred).
• Demonstrated technical skills meeting entry‑level standards of routine radiography.
• RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Connecticut State License, and CPR certification.
• Proficient in routine Radiography CR/Digital imaging techniques and above‑average knowledge of PACS applications.
• Good organizational and communication/customer service skills.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
