If you’re the kind of engineer who enjoys untangling complex systems, thrives when something breaks, and genuinely likes solving technical puzzles, this is the kind of environment where you’ll feel ’re supporting a life sciences organization building breakthrough instrumentation designed to transform how proteins are analyzed and understood. Their platform brings together advanced optics, precision hardware, fluidics, software, and data science into one tightly integrated system.
It is complex, multidisciplinary, and constantly evolving.
This is not a maintenance role. It’s hands-on system integration work inside a cutting‑edge lab environment where engineering decisions directly impact scientific discovery. They’re looking for a Senior Engineer, System Integration to step into a highly collaborative team and immediately support instrument-level troubleshooting, software testing, and cross‑functional integration efforts. This person will play a critical role in keeping systems running, diagnosing root causes, and ensuring performance across interconnected subsystems.
This is an environment where plans shift, challenges surface unexpectedly, and strong engineers lean in rather than step back.
What You’ll Be Doing- Troubleshooting advanced life sciences instrumentation at the system level
- Developing Python scripts and utilities to support diagnostics and software testing
- Integrating hardware and control software across multiple subsystems
- Executing integration test plans to verify functionality and performance
- Collaborating closely with optical, electrical, software, data science, and scientific teams
- Responding quickly and thoughtfully when system-level issues arise
- 5+ years of industry experience in systems integration or complex instrumentation
- Strong Python scripting experience
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience with electromechanical systems
- Comfort working in a lab setting with active instrumentation
- Ability to analyze ambiguous problems, test hypotheses, and iterate quickly
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across disciplines
- Next-generation sequencing or bio‑instrumentation
- Optical systems or precision alignment
- Liquid handling instrumentation
- Experience in fast‑paced or startup environments
This is a fully onsite role in Branford, CT and requires daily interaction with instrumentation and lab systems. The assignment is expected to run approximately 12 months, with potential for longer‑term opportunity depending on business needs.
If you’re excited about working at the intersection of engineering and biology, and you enjoy being the person who makes complex systems actually work, we’d love to connect.
