Job Description & How to Apply Below

A well-established fire and life safety business is looking to add a Fire Service Engineer to its service team covering Guildford and the surrounding areas south of the river.

This is a steady, long-term role with a sensible workload, good support, and a team that trusts engineers to manage their own day. The focus is on quality service and proper fault‑finding rather than rushing between jobs.

Training and upskilling are available for the right person. As long as there is a solid base in fire systems and service work, support is there to build on it.

What’s on offer
  • Up to £39,000 basic salary, plus overtime
  • £245 per week standby payment
  • 1-in-4 callout rota, planned in advance and shared evenly
  • 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing annually up to 27 days after 5 years
  • 3 days reserved for the Christmas shutdown
  • Company van with private use and fuel card
  • Phone, uniform and PPE provided
  • Specialist tools supplied including Solo, Fluke and ACT battery testers
  • Door-to-door travel paid while on call
  • GENT training provided on joining
  • NICEIC 3‑day Electrical Fundamentals course funded if needed
  • Optional healthcare cashback scheme
  • Regular team catch-ups and a proper Christmas do
  • Clear long‑term progression within the wider group

The role focuses on service, remedials and reactive callouts across fire alarm systems, AOVs and emergency lighting. Work is split between commercial sites and social housing, with an emphasis on proper fault‑finding, quality repairs and clear communication on site. Engineers are trusted to manage their own day, supported by a team that values steady work and doing the job properly.

What’s needed
  • Experience in fire and life safety service and remedials
  • Comfortable working independently in the field
  • Experience with systems such as Advanced, C‑Tec or Kentec
  • Emergency lighting testing experience
  • Good understanding of BS5839
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Able to pass an enhanced DBS
Hours and travel

Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.

Mainly covering the Surrey area, with occasional on-call/sickness coverage of the Kent area.
