We have a fantastic opportunity for a Real Estate Disputes Associate to join our Guildford team. The role will support the Real Estate Disputes Group in providing the whole spectrum of Property Disputes work to its nationwide and international client base and will suit someone who has excellent people skills who is looking to develop their career within a friendly collegiate group that is widely recognized for its expertise.

The Associate role will support the team in providing the whole spectrum of commercial and residential Property Dispute work (working for some of the Firm’s largest clients), including specialist areas of building and fire safety, property finance, enfranchisement, compulsory purchase, telecommunications and infrastructure, rights of light, professional negligence and insolvency.

The Group acts for a variety of clients, from well-known corporates to high-net-worth individuals, with clients based both nationwide and internationally. The Group secures its own work and clients but also works closely with other parts of the Firm, in particular the Real Estate and Private Property teams. The team have an extensive network of clients, contacts and intermediaries nationwide and internationally.
The Group have a comprehensive training programme and Know-How knowledge system, and the support of a dedicated Knowledge Development Lawyer.
Roles and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list)- To deliver practical advice of the highest technical competence, with commercial solutions
- To ensure the retention of clients allocated to them and further enhancement of our relationship with them.
- To contribute to the smooth administration of the Firm's Real Estate Disputes Group business
- Manage a substantial and varied workload efficiently and cost effectively with supervision, appropriate to level of expertise
- Assisting Partners and Senior Associates on larger cases, including attending court and tribunal hearings and mediations
- Support Partners in client marketing and business development activities to develop the group's client base and network of referrers and contacts
- To contribute to group and division strategic plans and initiatives
- To engage with knowledge management and profile raising of practice area
- To work in conjunction with our Real Estate Disputes teams in other UK offices
- Draft complex documents with minimum instruction and supervision, making use of appropriate documents
- Apply a commercial approach to research and evaluate relevance and accuracy in delivery of advice
- Build rapport with clients and develop effective working relationships
- To actively participate in client marketing opportunities such as client seminars, presentations and pitches
- Identify client opportunities and take appropriate steps to follow through
- Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles.
- Be an England and Wales qualified solicitor of NQ-2 PQE or equivalent
- Some prior property litigation experience
- Be confident to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Be organised and capable of running a significant number of files and work matters simultaneously
- Have the ability to develop effective working relations at all levels
- Be confident in both verbal and written communication with a diverse range of clients
- Have a flexible approach and willing to go the extra mile
- Where appropriate, delegate, co-ordinate and supervise the work of more junior members of the team
Hybrid working - We adopt a hybrid and flexible working approach, dependent on the requirements of the role and subject to manager approval.
