We are seeking a skilled and motivated part-time Laboratory Technician (0.5 FTE / 18 hours per week) to support the effective and safe day-to-day operation of the Histopathology Laboratory. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, supporting histology processes, and ensuring the safe handling and disposal of chemicals and solvents in line with health and safety requirements. The role also involves providing technical support to staff, researchers, and students, under the direction of the Senior Laboratory Technician.
Responsibilities- Maintain laboratory equipment and support histology processes.
- Ensure the safe handling and disposal of chemicals and solvents in line with health and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support to staff, researchers, and students under the direction of the Senior Laboratory Technician.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within histopathology, clinical pathology or a related discipline.
- Proven experience of working safely within a laboratory environment, with a sound understanding of COSHH regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage stock and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to support others.
- Experience with histology equipment and techniques.
- Experience supporting research or teaching laboratories.
