This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive Community Radiology team. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer who enjoys working in general x‑ray and takes pride in producing high quality x‑ray images.

We have three Radiology departments in our community sites that are part of Royal Surrey Foundation Trust situated at Haslemere Hospital, Milford Hospital and Cranleigh Village Hospital. All three departments have the latest state of the art Samsung digital x‑ray equipment.

We work closely with our colleagues at The Royal Surrey to provide an excellent imaging service to our patients both at the main site and in the community.

We provide high quality diagnostics to our local GP’s, Outpatients, Inpatients and Urgent Treatment Centre which is based at Haslemere Hospital.

Our Diagnostic Strategy includes expanding our services and resources of both staff and equipment within Royal Surrey Foundation Trust and in the community.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to rotate in our three community Radiology sites.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

To undertake diagnostic radiographic examinations in our community site Radiology department, working as part of a team and independently.

May supervise junior radiographers, and support ancillary staff and medical secretaries with all enquiries regarding appointments and examinations, to include plain x‑rays and ultrasound.

Promote excellent working relations with staff across the region.

To effectively contribute towards the delivery of a patient focused satellite x‑ray facility.

Liaise with the community radiology managers to ensure that standards, protocols and operational matters are developed in line with those of the royal surrey county hospital and all other satellite facilities.

Job responsibilities
  • To independently assess and justify examinations under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)) R 2017.
  • To perform imaging examinations at a consistently high technical and professional standard of work, and to evaluate the clinical quality of images produced having first assessed the clinical requirements and sought any guidance required, e.g. when requests fall outside departmental protocol and / or personal experience.
  • Assess, prioritise and organise the services ensuring that there is an effective and efficient appointment system and walk‑in service with an accurate and well‑maintained information system to support it.
