At UK Power Networks, we are seeking an EHV Project Construction Engineer SAP to support our Capital Programme and Procurement team based in Guildford, or via distributed working arrangements. This permanent position offers you the chance to make a significant impact on vital infrastructure projects, helping to deliver safe, reliable power to millions.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will be responsible for delivering construction programmes for assets operating at voltages from 400V to 132kV. Working alongside Project Managers, Supervisors, and EHV fitters, you'll keep projects on track for time, budget, and quality. You'll handle electrical engineering activities, manage budgets, maintain compliance with health and safety policies, and oversee both reactive and planned construction. Your technical knowledge will help you operate HV Distribution Protection Systems, carry out fault investigation and repairs, and modify equipment to keep substations running efficiently.
Managing daily construction, coordinating with clients and principal contractors, supporting procurement, and supervising team members and contractors will all be part of your remit.
Should you deputise for the Construction Manager, your leadership and communication will keep your team motivated and informed. Your expertise will be crucial when it comes to identifying risks and opportunities, responding to system faults—even outside normal hours—and ensuring every aspect of our construction activities upholds the UK Power Networks Stay Safe initiative. You will also act as the technical point of reference, provide support to project stakeholders, and ensure rigorous compliance with all H&S policies and Distribution Safety Rules.
QualificationsYou should be an experienced Senior Authorised Person (preferably at 132kV or 33kV, though we will provide the training if you're authorised at 11kV), have strong experience in distribution systems up to 132kV, and possess at least an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Holding a full driving licence is essential, and knowledge of Building Services Systems, CDM Regulations, and a relevant safety qualification will be an advantage.
