Base Pay Range

CA $66,703.00 / yr – CA $78,041.60 / yr

BASIC FUNCTION

This position works within the Economic Development Division, reports to the Smart Cities Office, and works closely with the Climate Change and Sustainability Office. The Agriculture Coordinator will work collaboratively to promote and deliver supports for the agriculture sector, and other County initiatives and events. Among other tasks, this position is responsible for coordinating the Experimental Acres project, which includes field visits, sample collecting, data recording, host support, and evaluation.

PRINCIPAL

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the plans and tasks of the Smart Cities Office.
  • Lead development, implementation, and support of the Experimental Acres programme, serving as the main point of contact for participants and participating municipalities.
  • Provide support to the agriculture sector by directing them to programmes and resources related to agriculture and/or economic development (i.e. WOWC supply chain study).
  • Represent the County in regards to issues which impact the agricultural sector (e.g. climate, on‑farm diversification, supply chain, zoning, succession planning, etc).
  • Represent the County in regards to issues which impact local food (food access, commercial kitchens, small‑scale processing, etc).
  • Develop presentation material to represent the County’s work, and present to learners of all ages, and/or oversee undergraduate capstone or internship work.
  • Promote the County through attendance at public and industry events.
  • Develop, support and/or deliver new programmes and public events related to the Economic Development division and Smart Cities Office (i.e. findings from WOWC supply chain study).
  • Identify additional funding opportunities and support funding applications and reporting.
  • Inform improvements to agricultural data collection for the Sustainability and Climate Change Office.
  • Prepare and communicate material utilizing clear writing and oral presentations, providing updates to the County’s webpages and social media content where appropriate, and contributing to decisions about marketing materials.
  • Contribute to monthly and annual reports.
  • Support other initiatives of the Economic Development Division and County as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two‑year college diploma in Agriculture or a related field.
  • Certified Crop Advisor or Professional Agrologist designation is an asset.
  • Minimum three years of experience or equivalent in sustainable agriculture practices, such as cover cropping and no‑till farming.
  • Experience in community engagement and/or knowledge transfer is preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of diverse agricultural production systems will be considered an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to define data requirements, gather, validate and present evidence‑based information.
  • Ability to interpret lab results for a non‑technical audience.
  • A valid driver’s license (minimum G2 Class) and access to a reliable vehicle; flexibility of location is required.
Pay Range

$66,703.00 – $78,041.60 (2026 Non‑Union Compensation Grid)

Medical Responsibility Time

Mileage

If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
