General PurposeReporting to the Manager, Transportation Services, the Senior Vehicle Mechanic performs skilled routine maintenance and repair work on all gasoline and diesel‑powered licensed vehicles, electric vehicles, tractors and off‑road equipment and small internal combustion engines.
Duties And Responsibilities- Maintenance, inspection and repair of all types of light‑ and heavy‑duty gasoline and diesel‑powered automobiles and trucks as well as gasoline‑powered landscape equipment, such as lawn mowers.
- Perform annual safety inspections on all vehicles according to MTO guidelines.
- Operate within established security and safety regulations as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Follow established University and department policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and legible records.
- Participate in the rotating emergency call‑in schedule.
- Perform other tasks related to Transportation Services as assigned.
- Grade 12 plus an additional one‑year program or equivalent to acquire an Automobile Technician license, and a valid Automotive/Truck (310S) license.
- Minimum of three years’ related experience.
- Valid DZ driver’s license.
- Good driving record.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- A Coach License (310T).
- Welding experience.
- Experience maintaining, servicing and repairing farm, construction, hydraulic, and turf maintenance equipment.
0‑3 Month Rate: $40.28 per hour | Job Rate: $42.29 per hour
