A casual Registered Nurse position is available at Louise Marshall Hospital within the Oncology department.
The Oncology Nurse will be involved in all aspects of the oncology and medical day care program including, but not limited to: patient/family assessment, administering & teaching chemotherapy, medical day care activities, providing supportive and palliative care, participation in the development & implementation of patient treatment plans, quality improvement processes, and facilitation of referrals and research initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standingBScN or related degree completed or in progress preferredCompletion of de Souza Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course or ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course mandatoryCompletion of de Souza Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice preferredCertificate in Oncology Nursing CON(C) an assetExperience with intravenous insertion, PICC and Portacath accessCurrent experience in systemic chemotherapy administrationExperience with medical day care procedures including but not limited to paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, and lumbar punctureCurrent BCLS certificationKnowledge & application of principles of oncology and palliative care nursingDemonstrated experience in working both independently and as part of inter-professional teamDemonstrated leadership abilitiesExcellent interpersonal & communication skillsExcellent attendance recordComputer literacy; working knowledge of a variety of computer systems & software applicationsDemonstrated commitment to professional development, continuing education and clinical training programsSatisfactory performance and attendance requiredSatisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start dateMust provide a Police Vulnerable Sector CheckMust complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hiredSALARY:
