Position Summary
Reporting to the Paint Process Manager, the successful candidate will plan and design complex paint manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. May improve production methods, determine manufacturing capacity, and set up production schedules. They will provide support in the design, modification, and evaluation in support of paint manufacturing operations.

Performance Expectations- Recognize and resolve process related difficulties with current and future projects
- Improve line efficiencies by managing and implementing improvement projects
- Troubleshoot all paint quality related issues
- Design and/or approve paint window/hook designs to maximize quality and throughput
- Specify new tools, equipment, and fixtures where required
- Help in defining plant layout and ergonomic requirements
- Participate in Advance Quality Planning
- Assist in training shop floor personnel in equipment operation and best practice
- Participate, manage, and implement energy/water/waste reduction projects
- Assist in resolution of process scrap
- Change implementation champion
- New product and process introductions
- Maintain equipment lists, set-up instructions, and work instructions
- Manage standard costing modules
- Assist in ensuring the process is capable through capability studies
- Participate in corrective actions to meet ongoing cost, quality, and delivery
- Serve as a coordinating resource for supervisors, management, and team members in the daily operation and functions of the production process. Liaise with Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance departments on manufacturing concerns
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned
- A bachelor’s degree or technologist diploma in engineering or equivalent work experience
- Five years of related experience within a paint department, specifically with paint pretreatment and paint application systems (powder paint and liquid paint)
- Effective project management skills
- Experience in Lean and 5S production environment
- Ability to write work instructions and process alerts to implement processes in the paint department
- Ability to discuss daily production with plant operators and maintenance staff
- Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations
- Ability to review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients' requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities
- Ability to interact with engineering & line support for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules
- Active knowledge of Solidworks, Excel, Word, and understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
- Ability to stay abreast on current and new technologies and advances in the paint engineering field. Attend formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed. Conduct self-directed studies by reading journals and trade publications
- Be able to work independently with the ability to prioritize and multitask in fast paced environment
- Must have superior communication skills and above average analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrate positive, hard working attitude with drive to complete tasks to the end
