Job Summary

The Safety & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all transportation safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management activities for Linamar Transportation’s Canadian and U.S. operations. This role ensures adherence to Ontario MTO, CVOR, NSC regulations, as well as U.S. FMCSA and DOT requirements, while fostering a strong safety culture across the fleet. The Safety & Compliance Manager leads safety programs, audits, training, and incident investigations to reduce risk and support operational excellence.

Responsibility
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including CVOR, NSC, FMCSA, DOT, CSA, and HOS requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive driver safety and compliance programs.
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training for drivers on regulatory compliance, defensive driving, drug & alcohol policies, and incident prevention.
  • Maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) and monitor licensing, medical certifications, abstracts, and background checks.
  • Lead investigations into collisions, incidents, near-misses, violations, and injuries; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions and management insurance claims.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure vehicle inspection compliance and preventive maintenance.
  • Track and analyze safety KPIs and trends; provide reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents, violations, and operational risks.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • Post‑secondary education in Transportation, Logistics, Safety Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant safety or compliance certifications are an asset.

Safety & Compliance Manager Required Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation safety and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario CVOR, NSC, and U.S. DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience with ELD systems, fleet management, and compliance software.
  • Proven ability to lead investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance claims to support effective management of incident investigations.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities, with the ability to influence drivers and leadership.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Operations, HR, and Maintenance teams.
