Position Summary:
As part of the Strategy, Quality and Risk Team, the Quality Improvement Consultant provides leadership throughout the organization to drive the delivery of safe, high-quality care in partnership with leadership, staff, physicians, patients and families in alignment with GGH’s mission, vision, and shared values.
The role works collaboratively to ensure the advancement of the GGH’s quality framework and management system, supporting senior leadership in the design and development of the framework/system, and leading its implementation via the co-creation of processes and structures to drive transparency and accountability. Overall success will require a demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, think strategically and adapt to dynamic situations with several competing priorities.
To be effective, incumbents require demonstrated knowledge and abilities in accepted strategy deployment tools (e.g. Shingo), project management methodologies, quality improvement science (e.g. lean Black Belt), and people change management (e.g. ADKAR/Prosci) methodologies. This role uses a systems-based approach to initiate, plan and execute a wide variety of improvement projects.
The role works with leaders and their teams in a QI coaching capacity to identify and solve problems and to sustain local QI projects. Through regular coaching, the role is accountable for implementing and growing GGH’s daily management systems and building leadership capacity and capability for improvement across the organization by embedding a quality improvement mindset at all levels. The role coaches colleagues and supports the testing of new ideas, while supporting teams with implementation and spread.

Qualifications, Experience,
Skills and Abilities:
- Post‑secondary degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Continuous Quality Improvement, Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a health discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of extensive hospital‐based healthcare experience
- Lean Green Belt; preferably Black Belt
- Lean Six Sigma certification, preferred
- People Change Management certification;
Prosci preferred - A minimum 5 years’ experience in continuous process improvement
- Proven ability to effectively lead project teams and facilitate improvement events
- Experience with change management and project management tools and philosophies
- Experience and demonstrated expertise in statistical data analysis to provide valuable insight to clinical and non‑clinical areas throughout the hospital
