Position covered by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 1334. This role is part of Custodial Services at the University of Guelph, working in the main campus setting and in a variety of environments including student residential, guest, and employee areas.

General

Purpose:

Custodial Services seeks an enthusiastic self-starter to join its team, delivering clean, safe, secure, comfortable, and well-maintained environments for residents, guests, and staff.

• Uphold the University’s standard of service by gathering waste, cleaning surfaces, tidying spaces, and using a variety of ergonomic cleaning tools.
• Ensure assigned areas are clean, well stocked, and maintained according to departmental standards and schedules.
• Potential exposure to hazardous workplace materials (environmentally safe cleaning products) and operation of powered/non-powered equipment (vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, etc.).
• Perform routine physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, and carrying light objects (< 25 pounds).
• Be capable of repeated movement for a wide range of cleaning functions and handle biohazardous materials (bodily fluids, vomit, urine, blood) with appropriate safety procedures.

• Minimum Grade 10 education (Grade 12 preferred).
• One (1) year custodial experience in a major institutional sector (education, post-secondary, medical/hospital, or service industry) is preferred.
• A valid G license is considered an asset.
• Ability to work all custodial shifts, including weekends, afternoons, and nights as required and assigned.
