This position is open to all qualified ONA staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 21 October 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 28 October 2025.
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. Using an advanced level of nursing practice and excellent observation skills, the RN will successfully care for patients undergoing surgery in the Pre-Operative, Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas.
They will demonstrate flexibility to work throughout the Peri Anaesthesia environment in order to promote patient flow; monitor post-operative patient progress while recovering from local, regional, or general anesthesia and support a safe and timely discharge.
- Current Ontario Registration with the College of Nurses (in good standing)
- Current BCLS & ACLS required
- PALS is an asset
- Recent (within last 2 years) PACU experience preferred, Critical Care is an asset.
- PACU certificate is an asset and critical care certificate is required
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures including pre-operative and immediate post-operative care is preferred
- Ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient care
- Ability to adapt to a multi-focused, fast-changing and stressful environment is essential
- Ability to handle a stressful environment in a positive manner
- Able to function independently and as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control best practice
- Demonstrated knowledge in patient centred care approach and principles including patient education
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past 4 years
- Demonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives, participation in nursing council, unit committees and quality improvement projects
- Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; organization skills; prioritizing; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with advanced airway needs
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with invasive hemodynamic monitoring (ie. Artline, Central Line)
- Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
- Must have a satisfactory performance record

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
