The engineering supervisor manages a team of engineers, overseeing daily operations, task assignments, and ensuring quality work while providing technical support and mentorship.

Responsibilities- Oversees daily activities of engineering staff, ensuring tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost control measures are in place.
- Assign, train, develop, and supervise manufacturing engineers, student engineers, and outside vendors.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Assist in planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, such as CAD, CAD/CAM systems, CAT, and quotation sheets.
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., production, materials, QA) to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems.
- Ensure that all manufacturing processes meet quality standards and comply with industry regulations and safety protocols.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies to incorporate best practices into engineering processes.
- Set goals, evaluate performance, and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members.
- Monitor and enforce quality control processes to maintain high standards of work.
- A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Advanced understanding of GD&T, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, process flow, control plans, ECNs, etc.
- Proficiency in Solid Works/AutoCAD software, ERP systems, and other manufacturing‑related tools.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
