Plant Engineer

We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as a Plant Engineer. This role is responsible for leading plant engineering, maintenance, and capital project activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. The Plant Engineer plays a critical role in continuous improvement, asset reliability, energy management, and compliance while providing leadership to maintenance teams and contractors.

Daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Propose, justify, design, procure, construct, commission, and support training for capital and engineering projects across the plant
• Provide overall leadership, training, and supervision to maintenance personnel and external contractors
• Manage the plant maintenance department to ensure safe operation, cost effectiveness, and continuous improvement
• Develop and implement maintenance routines, procedures, and downtime elimination strategies
• Plan, budget, schedule, and coordinate capital and engineering projects
• Provide manufacturing engineering support to production operations
• Support and maintain compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality audit requirements
• Develop and support energy management initiatives, including utility reduction and waste heat recovery
• Manage departmental budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and capital justification
• Collaborate with engineers, production teams, technicians, and contractors to achieve operational goals
• Utilize CMMS systems to manage maintenance activities and asset reliability

Mandatory Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment (plant engineering and/or maintenance)
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical staff and contractors
• Sound technical knowledge of applicable engineering standards and codes (e.g., TSSA, CSA, ESA)
• Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety legislation
• Experience managing maintenance operations using a CMMS
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills

Salary Range: $130,000–$150,000
