Position:

RWDI's Guelph Office is seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions to direct and execute complex source testing projects across various industrial sectors. This role combines hands‑on fieldwork with leadership and client‑facing responsibilities. You will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior technicians, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data integrity. This posting represents a currently available role.

Key Responsibilities

This role includes but is not limited to:

  • Lead and perform on‑site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
  • Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
  • Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Post‑secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is an asset
  • A minimum of 5‑years’ experience working in the Air Quality Testing field
  • Practical expertise In OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies
  • Strong computer and analytical technical “hands‑on” skills
  • An aptitude for practical problem‑solving
  • Field/site experience is a definite asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Candidates should also possess:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
  • An ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment with no supervision
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination, and consultation skills
  • Willingness to travel, and work outdoors including working long hours, evenings, and weekends
  • Collect samples at locations that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
