Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, the Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing category‑level product strategies that align with market needs and company objectives. This role plays a key part in ensuring products are effectively positioned to drive market penetration, customer adoption, and profitable growth.
The Product Manager is accountable for delivering annual budgeted revenue and gross profit for assigned product categories through strong market assessment, pricing strategy, and go‑to‑market execution. This includes leading product launches, promotional planning, and sales enablement activities in close collaboration with marketing, sales, engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams.
The ideal candidate brings proven product management experience, strong commercial and analytical capabilities, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams to deliver results in a dynamic, consumer‑focused environment.
Work ArrangementThis is a hybrid role based in Guelph, Ontario, with the expectation of working in the office Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday each week, and working remotely the remainder of the time.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive market assessments, including analysis of consumer, customer, competitor, and economic factors
- Define clear category‑level business objectives and develop strategies that deliver revenue, margin, and company goals
- Identify and validate target audiences for each product category
- Develop and execute category strategies that support profitable growth and long‑term portfolio health
- Proactively manage the product portfolio and develop a future‑focused product roadmap
- Lead intercompany idea generation and the design of new products, owning the product lifecycle from inception through end‑of‑life
- Identify, validate, and commercialize new products using sales data, customer insights, and consumer research
- Lead or influence competitive pricing strategies in partnership with procurement and sales
- Execute the merchandised portfolio (distribution, pricing, merchandising, and promotional tactics) to maximize inventory turns at retail and win new business during major customer line reviews
- Partner with the procurement team to assess and manage the financial performance of product categories, including setting target pricing and contribution margins
- Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution of product and go‑to‑market plans
- University degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3–5 years of product management or product/category marketing experience within the consumer goods industry
- Demonstrated experience conducting market assessments and developing category or product strategies
- Proven success launching and scaling products at retail
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience partnering with Sales during customer line reviews and key customer meetings
- Led or played a key role in a significant product commercialization initiative
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute product and category strategies aligned with market needs and company objectives
