Registered Nurses provide quality nursing services by working with the patient care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients' care and by providing a positive, supportive environment. The Registered Nurse is the front‑line representative of the patient care team often serving as the intermediary between the patient and family, the provider(s), and other care team members. This role is expected to: participate in performance improvement initiatives;
maintain professional competence; develop others; uphold confidentiality, safety, and professional standards; and support Shared Governance through service on councils or sponsored activities.
- Patient Care and Care Coordination:
Monitor, examine, and evaluate patient conditions; assist with care plans; deliver care plan as outlined, applying independent judgment; collaborate and communicate with staff; prioritize patient flow; maintain documentation; provide safe and effective care. - Patient Advocacy and Satisfaction:
Listen to concerns; serve as educational resource; communicate patient info to family and staff; embrace patient‑ & family‑centered care; prioritize patient needs; provide input to plan of care while maintaining confidentiality. - Performance Improvement:
Seek opportunities to improve work environment and processes; contribute ideas; support change implementation; contribute to improvement initiatives aligned with better patient quality outcomes, satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and financial performance. - Professional Competency and Growth:
Maintain professional licenses and certifications; complete required training; self‑manage training opportunities; stay current with research; seek opportunities for leadership development. - Professional Leadership:
Mentor and precept fellow nurses; contribute to a positive environment; adhere to confidentiality and standards; act professionally and adhere to shared governance principles; hold self and others accountable; promote nursing profession and assist recruitment. - Other duties as assigned; comply with Wellstar policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate's Nursing or Diploma (Nurse);
Bachelor's Nursing preferred.
- BLS-I – Basic Life Support – Instructor or BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support.
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – Registered Nurse – Multi‑state Compact.
