Anatomic and Investigative Pathology (AIP) Technician Assistant Summary
The AIP Technician Assistant is responsible for laboratory support functions that allow accurate, high-quality necropsy/histology study work for rodent and non-rodent safety studies in compliance with the study protocol, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, animal welfare regulations, and departmental policies/procedures. The pathology data collected and processed on these studies enable candidate selection, first-in-human studies, 13-week studies and early research and target safety and investigative work.
Responsibilities- Support study set up to prepare for necropsy and histology portions of non GLP and GLP studies
- In a structured environment, trains to fully support necropsy and histology techniques as outlined in our SOPs and directed by study protocols
- Communicate with the pathologist and laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens, as well as, proper handling of all supportive documentation, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work
- Ensure proper use of and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space
- Ensure full traceability of his/her work and of specimens
- High school diploma with a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience OR;
- Associate's degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience (Associate's degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience preferred)
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) preferred
- Foundation in general laboratory skills and processes
- Understanding of standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Compliance with lab safety and personal protective equipment guidelines
- Able to recognize, document, and resolve data errors
- Able to multitask while maintaining a high level of efficiency and quality
- Basic technical knowledge and/or skills of relevant disciplines (histology, animal science)
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technical skills
- Necropsy or tissue collection experience
- Histology: microtomy, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, histology slide staining techniques
- Experience working in a GLP lab environment
- This is a fully onsite role in Groton, CT
- Monday - Friday; 40 hours per week

The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting.
The actual pay rate will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
