Overview
The Electric Boat shipyard is experiencing a period of continued unprecedented growth of existing and recently acquired facilities for renovations and fit out of new buildings. Now is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team responsible for shaping the future of the shipyard.
INTRODUCTION
The Groton Facilities Engineering department is comprised of Engineers, Project Managers and Designers. We are seeking a seasoned project manager to develop and execute construction projects for the 110+ year old Groton shipyard and local sites with a focus on replacement of major electrical equipment including medium and high voltage substations, switch gear, transformers and duct banks.
GENERALThe candidate must be a motivated self-starter with an ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed. Candidate must establish a working relationship with facilities engineers, project managers, trade personnel, vendors, management, building officials and our Customer. Aptitude to read, understand and perform duties in compliance to the many EB procedures, policies and requirements are required.
SAFETYKnowledge of OSHA 1910, 1915 and 1926 minimum requirements to enable adherence to both Electric Boat’s Safety Manual and Contractor Safety, Health, and Regulations Manual.
PROJECT MANAGEMENTResponsibilities include engineering and developing the scope of work, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, securing internal funding, preparing purchase requisitions and in field project management of contractors and design agents.
Additional duties include maintaining project quality, schedule, budget, contract requirements, subcontractors’ compliance, suppliers, estimates, documentation, close out, turnover and other duties required to execute. Candidate will be responsible for oversight of day-to-day construction activities and the successful execution of multiple simultaneous projects.
Candidate must possess excellent written and communication skills to effectively run meeting and report project status to management and senior leadership.
Candidate should be familiar with National Electric Code, state and local building codes, electrical distribution systems up to 35KV, including substations, switchgears, transformers and underground duct banks.
QualificationsRequired:
- BS (or higher) in Engineering or Construction Management
- 5+ years of experience in engineering or construction project management
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience in leadership position in an engineering or project management environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Connecticut
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience with CMMS software Corrigo, Oracle and Procure
Skills:
- This position requires cross function, multi-discipline skills, including knowledge of: architectural, building envelope, civil, structural, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing disciplines.
- Candidate must possess a questioning attitude and desire to continue to learn the disciplines.
- Candidate must possess excellent written and communication skills
- Candidate must be organized and be able to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with Microsoft:
Excel, One Note, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
