The Director of Safety Town provides leadership, planning, and daily oversight for a community-based safety education program designed to teach young children essential safety skills. This position ensures a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment while partnering with community agencies such as police, fire, and other emergency services.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Planning- Implement program curriculum and schedules aligned with program goals.
- Coordinate guest speakers, first responder visits, community partnerships, and special activities.
- Oversee daily program operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.
- Maintain program materials, facilities, and supplies.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise support staff and volunteers.
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to staff and volunteers.
- Create and promote a positive team culture grounded in professionalism, safety and child development best practices.
- Manage program registration, attendance, and records.
- Maintain program policies, handbook, and documentation.
- Submit reports, incident forms, and evaluations as required.
- Associate's degree in Education, Child Development, or a child-related field (preferred).
- Experience working with young children (ages 5–9) in an educational or recreational setting.
- Prior experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with school personnel, families, and community partners.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to program start).
- Ability to actively engage with young children indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and set up learning materials and equipment.
- Up to 40 hours of preplanning can be done remotely in the Spring. Planning includes contacting all volunteers and scheduling visits for each session.
- 8-week in person position, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–12:00pm (hours may vary during classroom set up and graduation).

Hourly Rate: $20.81
