Summary
The Specifications Officer ensures products meet customer needs, production feasibility, and regulatory standards through precise specifications and cross-team collaboration.
The RoleThe main purpose of this position is to write, review, and update product specifications to ensure they meet customer requirements, are feasible to produce, and comply with all relevant legal and regulatory standards. Working closely with departments across the business, you’ll play a key role in maintaining product compliance and ensuring technical documentation is always audit-ready.
This is a part‑time role at 14.5 hours per week.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Writing customer specifications, ensuring timely completion, using the relevant customer specification portal.
- Administration of online retailer systems.
- Writing internal factory specifications alongside raw material ingredient specifications using relevant system.
- Completing all specifications accurately within designated deadlines.
- Reviewing artwork against specification using artwork system, to ensure full compliance with legal and customer specifications.
- Create and add finished product, work in progress, ingredient and raw material codes to Specification Systems & MRP Systems, accurately and efficiently.
- Communicating directly with customers on specification related issues.
- Work as an integral member of the Technical team networking with other internal departments and suppliers.
- Uploading data to government systems to produce required certificates and statements.
- Actioning & Communicating customer alerts internally & externally.
- Responding to internal and external specification queries.
- Filing and administration within specifications office.
- Evident confidence in communication and negotiating with professional peer group.
- Ability to assist in paper‑trail and traceability segments of audits.
- Ability to manage priorities and projects across a multi‑site and multi‑function organisation.
- A personal commitment to role model behaviours.
- Previous experience within a similar Technical role in food manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of Brexit coding requirements.
- A working understanding of Microsoft Office critical.
