Overview
Clinical Lead Doctor role based in Grimsby. This is a part-time position (14.8 hours per week) with flexible days and hours. Turning Point offers substance use treatment and recovery services across Lincolnshire through a new partnership.
Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of clinical governance and quality assurance, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
- Lead service development and act as advisor on policy development and implementation.
- Champion and lead research and innovation to develop new clinical guidance and service protocols.
- Collaborate with Turning Point colleagues nationally to optimise patient care.
- Provide clinical supervision and training to clinical colleagues.
- Support teaching of students from all parts of the MDT.
- Advise other clinicians on diagnosis, assessment and care planning for complex cases, including drug interactions and comorbid physical and mental health issues; integrate psychosocial and medical treatments.
- Manage referrals of people with the most severe or complex needs.
- Oversee psychosocial support provision based on evidence.
- Lead the introduction of innovative interventions to improve outcomes and service quality.
- Undertake complex prescribing as required (e.g., injectable opioid substitution treatments).
- Provide liaison with drug and alcohol services in acute medical and psychiatric settings and offer expert advice to courts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including HM Courts & Tribunals Service, probation services and other networks.

- Accreditation as a specialist in substance use treatment is required, with one of the following pathways:
- 1. Listed on the GMC Specialist Register as a psychiatrist with an endorsement in addiction (with supervision and CPD requirements).
- 2. Training, experience and supervision equivalent to this as certified by the GMC via CESR.
- 3. Listed on the GMC GP Register (or equivalent) with appropriate training, qualifications and experience in addiction/substance use.
- 4. Fulfilling criteria of a specialty doctor in Addictions with suitable experience.
- Turning Point supports ongoing professional development with supervision, CPD, appraisals and revalidations.
