We are a well-established and local chartered accountancy firm seeking a motivated Accounts Preparation Semi‑Senior to join our friendly and supportive team.

With a strong reputation built over many years of serving owner‑managed businesses, sole traders and limited companies, we pride ourselves on delivering practical advice with a personal touch.

As the profession continues to evolve, particularly with digital accounts and Making Tax Digital, we are looking for someone ready to grow with us.

Location and Hours

📍 Grimsby | 🕒 Hours by agreement | 💼 Permanent

The Role

You will play a key role in preparing accounts and supporting clients across a varied portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has solid accounts preparation experience and is comfortable with the fundamentals of accountancy, and who is eager to develop their skills in an increasingly digital environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Drafting corporation tax computations and supporting schedules
  • Preparation and review of VAT returns
  • Assisting with self‑assessment tax returns
  • Liaising directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries
  • Supporting the transition to digital accounting systems and Making Tax Digital compliance
  • Maintaining accurate and organised working papers
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience in accounts preparation within an accountancy practice
  • Is confident with core accounting principles and double‑entry bookkeeping
  • Has experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, Quick Books, Sage or similar)
  • Understands the basics of VAT and corporation tax
  • Is organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage deadlines
  • Is willing to embrace digital accounting developments and evolving compliance requirements

Most importantly, you will have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to continue learning and adapting within a changing profession.
