Role Overview
The Semi-Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing a small portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, and assisting with compliance and advisory work.
You will work closely with senior management, gaining exposure to all aspects of client accounting, while having the autonomy to develop your own portfolio and take ownership of client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accounts for small to medium-sized businesses
* Assist with tax compliance including corporation tax, personal tax, and VAT
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
* Support senior management with financial reporting and advisory work
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive advice and support
* Take responsibility for own portfolio of clients, with guidance from seniors
* Contribute to the growth and succession planning within the practice
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accountancy practice
* Experience preparing accounts for small businesses
* Knowledge of accounting standards and compliance
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Confident in dealing with clients and able to work independently
Desirable
* AAT qualified (or part-qualified) or working towards ACA/ACCA
* Experience with accountancy software packages
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
