Qualifications: State of Oregon School Counselor license with PK-12 authorization and current First Aid Card.
Compensation: Salary and stipends prorated based on FTE and dates. Annual salary range $18,350 – $38,135 for a 192/193 day contract. Eligible for a specialty stipend of $729 if certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian.

The job of school counselor is to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program for all students in the district based on the Oregon Framework for School Counseling Programs and its components (Guidance Curriculum, Individual Planning, Responsive Services, System Support, and Student Advocacy), and to provide services to all students in the academic, career, community involvement, and personal/social domains in concert with school staff, parents, the community, and the students themselves.
EssentialJob Functions
- Implement Guidance Curriculum Component through instructional skills and the careful planning of structured group sessions for all students.
- Facilitate the instruction of guidance lessons.
- Encourage staff involvement to ensure implementation of the guidance curriculum, providing resources and in‑service trainings as needed.
- Implement Individual Planning Component by guiding individuals and groups of students and their parents through the development of plans that lead to educational and career success.
- Help students plan toward success through goal‑setting and organizational skills.
- Provide accurate and appropriate interpretation of assessment data and present relevant, unbiased information.
- Implement Responsive Services Component through the use of individual and small group counseling, consultation, and referral.
- Provide counseling for individuals and small groups of students with identified needs/concerns.
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to meet student needs.
- Assist with referrals in collaboration with parents, administrators, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Implement System Support Component through counseling program management and support for other educational programs.
- Administer and evaluate a comprehensive and balanced counseling program in collaboration with school staff.
- Provide support for other school programs and carry out “fair share responsibilities” as appropriate.
- Implement the student advocacy component to achieve student success.
- Work proactively to remove personal and social barriers to learning.
- Empower students to be advocates for themselves and others.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities.
- Use communication and positive interaction with the entire school community.
- Commit to ongoing growth.
- Possess professional and responsible work habits.
- Follow professional’s ethical and legal standards and guidelines, and promote cultural diversity and inclusivity in school policy and interpersonal relationships.
- Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities
Required:- Communicate effectively and problem solve.
- Know curriculum, education code, district policies, problem‑solving methodology.
- Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, maintain and verify completeness of records, meet schedules and deadlines, communicate with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds, and communicate in oral and written form. Significant physical abilities include reaching, handling, speaking, hearing, and near‑visual activity/accommodation.

Required:- State of Oregon School Counselor License; current First Aid Card.
