03/02/2026 - Annual Salary Range: $18,350 – $38,135 (Based on 192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement based on education and contracted licensed experience.
- Specialty Stipend: $729 for Certified Multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (requires proficiency test)
School Counselor
The role is to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program for all students in the district based on the Oregon Framework for School Counseling Programs and its components (Guidance Curriculum, Individual Planning, Responsive Services, System Support, and Student Advocacy). The counselor provides services in academic, career, community involvement, and personal/social domains in collaboration with staff, parents, the community, and the students.
Essential Job Functions- Implement the Guidance Curriculum Component - plan and facilitate structured group sessions and lessons; encourage staff involvement, provide resources and in‑service training.
- Implement the Individual Planning Component - guide students, parents, and staff in goal setting, organizational skills, and interpretation of assessment data.
- Provide Responsive Services - offer individual and small‑group counseling, consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others, and assist with referrals.
- Manage System Support - administer and evaluate the counseling program in collaboration with staff; support other school programs and fulfill fair‑share responsibilities.
- Advocate for Students - remove personal and social barriers to learning and empower students to advocate for themselves and others.
- Maintain professional responsibilities, communicate positively with the entire school community, pursue ongoing growth, and uphold ethical and legal standards while promoting cultural diversity and inclusivity.
- Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies, and problem‑solving methodology.
- Physical abilities to sit for prolonged periods, maintain records, meet deadlines, interact with diverse cultural backgrounds, and perform near‑visual tasks.
- State of Oregon School Counselor License (PK‑12 authorization) and current First Aid Card.
Salary and stipends are prorated based on FTE and start/end dates of the position.
