MWH Constructors, a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a construction safety intern to join our Portland Water Bureau Bull Run Water Treatment Project in Gresham, Oregon.

- Assist with jobsite safety orientations for new hires, visitors, and subcontractors
- Conduct daily jobsite safety observations and document findings
- Support Job Hazard Analysis (JHA/JSA) development and field implementation
- Participate in toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings
- Assist with incident reporting, near-miss documentation, and follow-up actions
- Help track and organize safety documentation (training records, inspections, permits)
- Support compliance with OSHA, project-specific, and client safety requirements
- Observe and assist with safety audits and inspections
- Engage with field crews to reinforce safe work practices
- Complete a capstone or summary project focused on safety improvement, observations, or lessons learned
- Understand the role of safety in heavy civil construction operations
- Gain exposure to construction means and methods
- Develop communication skills when interacting with craft professionals and leadership
- Learn how safety programs are implemented at the project level
- Build foundational knowledge for a career in construction safety or EHS
- Currently pursuing a degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Strong interest in construction safety and field operations
- Ability to work in an active construction environment
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to follow and promote safety policies at all times
- Prior construction, safety, or field experience (internship, labor, coursework)
- OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with safety documentation or reporting tools
