St. George’s University invites applicants for the position of Registered Nurse within the University Health Services.

The Registered Nurse will demonstrate commitment to the values of St. George's University, by giving exemplary service to the University, its administrators, students and the members of the public who interact with the University. The registered nurse will, with the tools and resources provided, ensure success in the role by providing assessing, planning and Intervention (treatments) of patients at University Health Services.
EssentialFunctions Clinical Duties
- Assess and triage medical and surgical emergencies
- Assist doctor during consultation time in assessing the patients
- Assist doctor with examination of patients and preparing the patients for examination
- Dispense drugs at the doctor's request
- Responsible for screening of vital signs and minor procedures
- Administer vaccines
- Check drugs for expiry dates
- Arrange appointments for patients at the general hospital and for specialists
- Contact the Director or other physician via telephone or messenger in case of an emergency
- Counseling services: family planning, hypertension, diabetes, compliance of drugs for staff and students
- Maintain Controlled Drugs inventory under the guidance of Director
- Inventory of stock within the UHS Clinic
- Prepare weekly epidemiology report and submit to MOH
- Logging reports from Hospital
- Keep lab reports in Doctors' folder for review
- To ensure that an updated file is kept of all materials that belongs to UHS
- Responsible for keeping an updated record of all patients visiting the clinic and to collect fees as necessary
- Request transport to take students to the hospital in case of injury
- Advise Office Manager making sure that all requirements of the clinic policy is adhered to
- Work cohesively with Senior Nurse and other members in Clinic ensuring best service at all times
- Attend seminars conducted by MOH and SGU
- Contribute to the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Advise senior nurse for arrangements to have needles, syringes and expired drugs incinerated
- Ensure that clinic linen is properly cleaned and oversee general cleaning of the clinic
- Maintain sterile conditions in Clinic
- Maintain medical equipment in good condition as per established schedule
- Ensure that all instruments are cleaned, autoclaved and prepared for doctors
- Demonstrate high standards of professionalism, discretion, tact and diplomacy

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to fingers;
- The employee may be required to lift or move patients and supplies;
- This position involves being on one's feet for long hours, including standing and walking
- Job involves lifting, being, leaning, pushing and pulling
- A typical work week is 40 hours, Sunday through Saturday and on any shift within a 24 hour period;
- No travel is expected for this position.
- Associate degree or Diploma in Nursing;
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
- Two (2) year experience in ambulatory care setting desired;
- Valid RN license issued in Grenada.
