Overview
A Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for ensuring the safety of campers and leading engaging recreational and educational activities such as sports, crafts, and outdoor adventures. They provide emotional support, resolve conflicts, maintain cleanliness, and serve as positive role models. This role requires high energy, a sense of responsibility, and teamwork to create a fun, safe, and developmental experience for children.
Counselors will also be responsible for driving a 14-passenger church bus, which does not require a CDL. Prior to the summer, training and paperwork will be necessary. The position will start on May 25 and run through July 31.
- Supervision and Safety: Continuously monitor campers, enforce rules, manage emergencies, and ensure a secure environment, especially during activities like swimming or hiking.
- Activity Leadership: Plan, teach, and lead daily games, crafts, sports, songs, and other programs, adapting them to the interests of the campers.
- Camper Support: Provide emotional guidance, mediate disputes, encourage participation, and help foster social adjustment among campers.
- Administrative Tasks: Take attendance, maintain records (such as incident reports and logs), manage supplies, and assist with setup and cleanup.
- Role Modeling: Demonstrate positive behavior, good habits, and teamwork to serve as a constructive example for campers.
- Communication: Report on camper progress and raise any concerns to supervisors and parents.
- Previous experience in childcare or an educational setting is required.
- Must possess a high energy level, a positive attitude, and exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, run, bend, and lift as necessary.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- A genuine love for working with children.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Candidates must be at least 25 years old and possess a clean driving record due to insurance requirements.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
