Overview
Assists shop foreman and mechanics in procuring supplies and/or parts for the repair and maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment. Performs receiving and storing of stock, checking/verifying new and existing supplies, and performs quality checks of new supplies and equipment following and ensuring compliance with inventory control procedures. Creates and processes requisitions and issues parts, supplies and equipment for the Shop, ensuring compliance with purchase order specifications.
Serves as vendor and customer liaison for supply and service matters. Maintains detailed inventory records of supplies and equipment on hand. Assigns schedules and maintains time records. Answers inquiries about stock; assists with resolving discrepancies with orders shipped and/or returned. Assigns identification numbers to appropriate property and equipment and applies property accountability decals. Performs periodic inventories as necessary. Inspects, maintains and supervises cleaning of storeroom area in accordance with OSHA safety and fire regulations.
Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations. May include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts.
- A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
- The physical demands for the essential functions includes working in an office environment, warehouse environment, and/or outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
