Overview
Monday-Friday, 1st Shift, 8:00am-4:30pm. Reports to the Director of Nursing Quality and Excellence Services for the development, organization, and ongoing leadership for assigned departments of Self Regional Healthcare. The role has 24-hour accountability for assessment, planning, and evaluation by leading patient flow, bed management, and centralized staffing operations for nursing units. Ensures safe, efficient movement of patients, optimizes staffing resources, and supports high-quality care.
The role also involves hiring, orientation, ongoing competence, and evaluation of all assigned personnel, and collaboration with Nursing Services and Ancillary Services to maintain operational aspects of the patient care area/department. Role models professional nursing practice.
Directs daily operations related to admissions, discharges, transfers (internal and external), and hospital bed utilization. Oversees the capacity/bed management team to ensure timely patient placement. Leads and participates in capacity huddles and multidisciplinary flow rounds. Monitors real-time throughput dashboards and intervenes to address barriers. Partners with the Emergency Care Center, perioperative areas, ancillary services, inpatient units, Case Management, and providers to improve patient flow.
Provides leadership for patient and team member safety; develops and implements plans to meet ongoing patient care needs and improve the quality of nursing care. Maintains knowledge of current and trending nursing practice and ensures compliance with the State of South Carolina Nursing Practice Act;
State Board of Nursing Regulation, DNV, EMTALA, and regulatory/accreditation standards. Supports the nursing vision, shared governance, ongoing professional development, and maintenance of competencies that support professional nursing practice. Creates and maintains a culture of safety by using data to drive decisions and proactively mitigate risks, providing instruction and mentoring for assigned team members. Fosters a healthy work environment that supports engagement and growth of nursing teams to meet or exceed licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration with team members, physicians, and departments, ensuring the voice of the patient is central to process or policy. Performs other duties related to the role as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- BSN required from accredited nursing school.
- Two years' experience as a Registered Nurse, actively licensed in the state of South Carolina.
- Nurse Managers are to maintain BLS. They will maintain other certifications as required by those units they oversee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in hospital operations, nursing leadership, bed management, or staffing coordination.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- National certification in clinical specialty preferred.
