Overview

Ophthalmic Technician — Make a difference in patients’ vision while building a career in eye care. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you are a vital part of the care team, providing the clinical information doctors rely on to deliver exceptional patient care. You’ll work hands-on with patients, support both optometrists and ophthalmologists, and help ensure each visit runs smoothly and efficiently. This role blends patient interaction, clinical skill-building, and teamwork in a fast-paced, supportive environment—ideal for someone who enjoys learning, problem-solving, and helping others.

  • Starting pay: $17.50 per hour, based on experience

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining testing procedures in a clear, reassuring way
  • Perform preliminary testing and any additional tests requested by the doctor
  • Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists during patient exams and procedures
  • Help manage patient flow and scheduling, communicating delays when needed
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, including cleaning instruments and tracking supplies
  • Create a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for patients and staff
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the care team
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a clinical setting
  • Interest in healthcare and willingness to learn new clinical skills
  • Prior ophthalmic or medical experience is helpful, but we’re happy to train the right candidate
Physical Requirements (ADA)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; frequent talking, hearing, grasping, and stooping
  • Light lifting requirements (up to 15 lbs. regularly)
  • Visual acuity to ensure accuracy and quality of work
