OverviewCharter’s Network Technology Services (NTS) organization is expanding its AI architecture team to support the build‑out of an enterprise-scale, cloud‑agnostic AI platform. We are seeking a high‑level AWS AI Architect who brings deep, production‑hardened expertise in AWS’ AI/ML ecosystem and can translate architecture into actionable engineering work. This role is critical to driving Charter’s real-world deployment of agentic AI solutions that enhance autonomous networking capabilities.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on enough to understand development workflows, experienced enough to guide engineering teams, and senior enough to design scalable, secure, compliant architectures in a highly regulated environment.
Skill Set- Strong background as an AWS Architect with hands‑on engineering experience earlier in career.
- Ability to decompose architecture into engineering tasks and understand development workflows.
- Experience supporting production‑grade AI solutions—not just POCs.
- Hands‑on production experience with AWS AI/ML services, including:
- Amazon Bedrock
- Amazon Sage Maker
- AWS Agentic/Orchestration tooling (e.g., Strands)
- AWS LLMs (Nova, Anthropic Claude via Bedrock, others)
- AWS data & analytics stack: EMR, Kinesis, Neptune/Neptune ML, S3, Data Lake, Aurora, RDS
- Experience designing workflows where automation interacts with human oversight.
- Background in industries with AI regulation (Telco, Healthcare, Finance, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, onsite, with frequent whiteboarding.
- Lead architecture design for AWS-based AI/ML components within a cloud-agnostic AI platform.
- Evaluate existing reference architectures and evolve them for long-term production readiness.
- Partner with peer architects across AWS, GCP, and on‑prem (NVIDIA) environments to ensure architectural alignment.
- Work closely with a large engineering team to translate architectural designs into actionable development tasks.
- Provide guidance on how to wire up system components, integrate services, and operationalize AI/ML workloads.
- Support the breakdown of features into engineering deliverables with the Director of Engineering.
- Apply knowledge of AWS-native LLMs such as Amazon Nova, Anthropic on AWS, and Bedrock models.
- Partner with other architects, engineering leads, data teams, and internal stakeholders across NTS.
- Participate in whiteboarding sessions, technical reviews, and architecture governance.
- Ensure all AI workloads adhere to regulatory guardrails (e.g., Colorado AI regulations).
- Architect systems with “human in the loop” controls, particularly for autonomous networking workflows.
