Cost Accounting Manager

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to help bring that same discipline and edge to how we understand product cost, inventory, and margin across the business. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for standard costing, landed cost methodology, inventory valuation, and COGS analytics. The ideal candidate is comfortable partnering across teams and scaling cost accounting practices to support a global, fast-moving organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain a scalable standard costing and landed cost framework for purchased finished goods, including appropriate burdening of freight, duties, tariffs, and related acquisition costs
• Develop and govern costing policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure consistent application and GAAP-compliant inventory valuation and cost capitalization
• Lead COGS analysis, margin reporting, and variance analysis, delivering clear insight into product, category, and customer profitability
• Assess the financial impact of supplier, sourcing, logistics, and volume changes, and support pricing and margin discussions with Finance and Sales
• Prepare cost estimates and financial analysis for new products, sourcing changes, and strategic initiatives
• Own cost accounting setup and governance within the ERP environment (SAP preferred), partnering with IT and Finance to ensure data integrity and scalable reporting
• Leverage advanced Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau; SQL familiarity) to enhance analytics, visibility, and decision support
• Champion automation and process improvement initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
• Serve as the primary cost accounting partner to Finance, Accounting, Inventory, and Sales, translating complex cost concepts into practical, decision-ready insights
• Support month-end close activities, internal and external audits, and physical inventory and cycle count programs in a deadline-driven environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA or CMA highly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and governing standard costing in a complex organization
• Strong understanding of GAAP, particularly inventory accounting, landed cost capitalization, and COGS recognition
• Proven ERP cost accounting experience: SAP experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Power Query, Power Pivot, and complex cost modeling
• Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau; SQL familiarity a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to move between detail and big-picture thinking
• Ability to work independently, influence cross-functional partners, and bring clarity to ambiguous environments
• Clear, confident communicator who can explain cost and margin drivers to technical and non-technical audiences alike
