Network Engineer III- Access Engineering

Overview

As a senior-level Network Engineer, you will lead the planning, forecasting, and implementation of highly complex network systems. The Network Engineer IIII - Access Network Operations will be responsible for designing and establishing corporate network standards, developing and implementing network enhancements, and recommending improvements to network architecture. You will also lead the implementation of approved network architecture and designs and play a vital role in staff development initiatives.

• Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.
• Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
• Evaluate new products and perform network problem resolution.
• Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards.
• Develop and implement approved methods of procedure.
• Design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement.
• Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization.
• Provide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors.
• Work on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

• Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience
  • 5+ years data network experience.
• Technical Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of existing MSO DOCSIS and Fiber network architectures, including hardware, software, and network devices.
  • Proficient in access products:
    Comm Scope, Cisco, Casa, Vecima, Harmonic, and Adtran.
  • Expert knowledge in Distributed Access Architecture (DAA), Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP), and Remote PHY.
  • Expert knowledge in DOCSIS Standards, including DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 4.0 specifications.
  • Expert knowledge in Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP), EPON technologies and associated hardware such as OLTs, Remote OLTs, and ONUs.
  • Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards: IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols and topology.
  • Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Advanced knowledge of ticketing and software tools to support current operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic network devices and appliances.
  • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Vision.
• Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and software applications.
  • Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM and on-call rotation.

• Education
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Other industry and vendor specific certifications such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
