Engineer, Network

Overview

In partnership with the Team Lead of Network Engineering, manages the daily network operations of the LAN, WAN, and Security environments, while continually providing quality user service throughout the company. Network Services includes:
Network Infrastructure, Network Security and Network Management.

• Operate and maintain network infrastructure to support the daily operation of all affiliate companies.
• Maintain system resources required to support the network infrastructure.
• Ensure work on network equipment is performed to provide a high level of service to internal users.
• Maintain up-to-date inventories of all network infrastructure systems, software, and appliances; partner with the Provisioning Engineer to keep data circuit inventories current.
• Assist with the supervision of vendor and contract personnel when working on company network equipment.
• Provision remote access accounts and provide customer support.
• Provision corporate Ethernet ports, support moves and printer requests, and maintain documentation.
• Ensure work tickets are updated in a timely manner.

• Assist in network planning activities including expansion strategies for the network infrastructure, including branch projects; participate in the change control process when necessary; assist with the evaluation of new products.

• Perform analysis and monitoring of network equipment, software and data circuit utilization; monitor network efficiency and provide resolution to network problems.
• Assist with the design and deployment of fault and performance network management systems to enable troubleshooting.

• Assist with the design and update of workflow and network traffic documentation; assist with the implementation of network security policies to prevent unauthorized access; execute firewall changes.
• Document requests for IT Security Exceptions and implement indicated network changes; monitor SOC activity and document issues by severity.
• Administer internet filtering software; assist in implementing business-to-business VPN tunnels.

• Keep current and educated on new network technologies.

• Knowledge and experience in support of Cisco network operations and implementations.
• Network monitoring:
  Solar Winds, sniffing software, or other enterprise network monitoring system.
• Knowledge of IDS/IPS systems or software; knowledge of Firewall/Proxy services.
• Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio.

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent; or four (4) years’ experience in a corporate network environment; CCNA Certification; administration experience with Cisco ACS, Websense.
