Go-to-Market Sales Manager - Financial Services Position Overview
Metis is seeking an experienced Go-to-Market Sales Manager to drive revenue growth by building relationships with small and medium-sized investment and financial firms. This role requires a deep understanding of the investment management industry and the ability to articulate how AI infrastructure can transform fund operations, research, and decision‑making processes.
Key Responsibilities- Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market plan targeting small and medium-sized hedge funds, credit funds, crypto funds, macro funds, quant funds, and mutual funds.
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, relationship building, and strategic account management.
- Lead sales cycles from initial contact through contract negotiation and closing.
- Accurately probability‑weight monthly, quarterly, and annual new customer wins.
- Design and secure sales‑channel partnerships and co‑marketing relationships to efficiently scale customer acquisition.
- Industry Expertise & Relationship Building
- Leverage established network within the investment management industry to identify and engage prospects.
- Understand the unique operational challenges, regulatory requirements, and technology needs of different fund types.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with CCO, CTO, COO, and investment professionals.
- Represent Metis at industry conferences, events, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand Metis capabilities and roadmap as well as the company’s differentiated competitive positioning as an enabler of both incumbent and disruptive AI vendors in the marketplace.
- Successfully conduct product demonstrations and proof‑of‑concept implementations.
- Work with prospects to show the self‑learning and self‑help aspects of the platform.
- Gather competitive intelligence and market insights to inform product development and help create marketing materials and public positioning across multiple media channels.
- Provide feedback to product teams on customer needs, feature requests, and market opportunities.
- Work with internal team and external advisors and vendors on content creation, case studies, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Industry Experience
- 5-10 years of B2B sales experience in financial services, with specific focus on investment management.
- Proven track record selling labor and/or technology solutions to hedge funds, credit, macro, quant, crypto, or mutual funds with particular focus on < $5B AUM managers.
- Deep understanding of back‑office operations, investment workflows, research processes, and risk‑management.
- Significant network of relationships within the alternative investment and asset management industry.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple stakeholders over a 3–9‑month sales cycle with $100-200k ARR contracts closing dozens of new customers a quarter.
- Experience with enterprise software sales helpful, preferably in data, analytics, or infrastructure solutions.
- Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Technical Acumen
- Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts related to AI, machine learning, and data infrastructure.
- Experience selling to non‑technical buyers including COO, CCO, CIO, middle‑office and investment professionals.
- Comfort with SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and API‑based solutions.
- Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to engage C‑level executives.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Self‑motivated with ability to work independently in a fast‑paced startup environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications
- General understanding of fund accounting, portfolio management, or risk management concepts.
- Experience with AI/ML applications in financial services.
- Track record of building sales processes and go‑to‑market strategies at early‑stage companies.
