Operating Room Registered Nurse (Contract/Temp)
Location: Stamford, CT
Facility: Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
Schedule: 5x8 Days
Pay Rate: $70/hour
Position Type: Contract / Temporary
We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a contract opportunity at a busy Ambulatory Surgery Center in Stamford, CT. This is a great opportunity for an OR RN who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Assess and monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition
- Assist with patient positioning and ensure patient safety throughout procedures
- Prepare operating room and patients for surgical procedures using aseptic technique
- Observe, check, and monitor all surgical equipment to ensure proper function
- Accurately handle and document specimens
- Complete thorough patient documentation in the center’s EMR system
- Inventory instruments and supplies pre- and post-surgery
- Perform and participate in proper “Time Out” procedures to confirm correct patient and procedure
- Provide basic bedside care and monitor patients throughout the perioperative continuum
- Respond appropriately in life-saving situations according to nursing standards and protocols
- Perform surgical hand scrubbing in accordance with AORN standards
- Select, handle, and pass instruments and supplies during procedures
- Support the surgeon and surgical team as needed
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate or Bachelor’s degree)
- Active RN license in the State of Connecticut
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- ACLS preferred
- PALS preferred
- CNOR preferred
- Comply with facility time and attendance policies
- Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
- Adhere to professional standards and facility policies
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases
- Standing and walking for extended periods (more than half the day)
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting
- Ability to assist with moving patients ranging from 5 to 300 pounds
