Description

An Azure Architect with Mainframe and TPF (Transaction Processing Facility) experience designs and leads the migration, modernization, and optimization of legacy mainframe systems, particularly high-performance IBM z/TPF environments used in transaction‑heavy industries like airlines or finance, to client Azure cloud infrastructure.

• Architect cloud‑native solutions for refactoring z/TPF workloads, including re‑platforming online transaction processing (OLTP) apps to Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Cosmos DB for No
  
  SQL data, and Virtual Machine Scale Sets for scalability.
• Define migration strategies, such as lift‑and‑shift with Azure Site Recovery or full refactoring to microservices, while ensuring low‑latency performance equivalent to TPF’s shared‑memory coupling and partition isolation.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure Dev Ops, integrate security via Azure Active Directory (AAD) and RBAC, and monitor with Azure Monitor for mainframe‑like reliability.

• Deep expertise in Azure PaaS/IaaS (e.g., AKS, App Services, Blob Storage) and mainframe technologies like TPF Assembly, C++, TN3270/HTTP protocols, and middleware for queuing/output.
• Experience with application modernization tools (e.g., Azure Database Migration Service), data refactoring to Cosmos DB, and handling high‑throughput transactions.
• Proficiency in infrastructure automation (Terraform, ARM templates), security governance, and hybrid setups comparing Azure vs. on‑prem mainframes.

• 8+ years in cloud architecture, with 3‑5 years specifically in mainframe modernization (z/TPF to Azure) and full‑stack development (e.g., Java, Python for microservices).
• Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert; bonus for mainframe‑specific knowledge (AS/400, DB2).
• Strong problem‑solving for performance, HA/DR, and cost optimization in enterprise migrations.
