A growing investment management firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This individual will play a key role in supporting the firm’s accounting and finance operations, working closely with senior leadership and investment professionals. The position offers exposure across fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational processes, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility over time.
Key responsibilities- Manage core accounting and operational activities across multiple investment vehicles, including monitoring daily activity and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Produce recurring internal reports and analytics used by senior management to monitor fund and firm performance.
- Support the period-end close process, including calculations related to fund-level income, expenses, and investor allocations.
- Liaise with external fund administrators and service providers to ensure accurate books, records, and reporting deliverables.
- Review periodic investor and performance reporting packages prior to distribution.
- Assist in coordinating the annual audit and tax cycle, including preparation of supporting schedules and communication with external advisors.
- Partner with investment professionals on transaction-related accounting matters and portfolio events.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting and investor communications as required.
- Help strengthen internal processes, controls, and systems to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
- Approximately 5-12 years of relevant accounting or finance experience within asset management, alternative investments, or fund administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or similar designation is preferred.
- Knowledge of fund structures, partnership accounting concepts, and investor allocation methodologies.
- Familiarity with credit-oriented investments or similar financial instruments is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple work streams and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
