Starwood Property Trust - Lending Intern

The Summer Analyst position is a 9‑week commercial real estate internship based in Greenwich, CT. As a Summer Analyst, you will assist with loan origination and acquisition opportunities across whole loan, mezzanine and preferred equity positions. You will develop real estate valuation skills, analyze potential loan investments and be part of the negotiation of loan documentation. Responsibilities will include building Excel models, conducting market research, preparing investment memoranda, performing due diligence and assisting with ongoing portfolio management.

• Real estate valuation analysis, excel modeling
• Real estate loan origination (whole loan, mezzanine, preferred equity) and acquisitions including secondary market transactions and commercial mortgage‑backed securities (CMBS)
• Preparation of presentations and memoranda evaluating investment merits and risks, market dynamics, and projected investment returns
• Credit, legal, market and other diligence
• Transaction execution, including negotiation of loan documentation
• Market research and assistance with ongoing portfolio management

• Thrive as a self‑starter in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• A true self‑starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision

• Must be a Winter 2027 or Spring 2028 Undergraduate
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business or related area, preferred but not required
• Must be flexible to work from Greenwich and NYC offices
