Management Accountant – Building Envelopes Overview

Responsibilities

As a Management Accountant in the Building Envelopes sector, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, analyzing, and presenting accurate and timely financial reports for senior management to support strategic business decisions.
  • Monitoring budgets and actual expenditure, identifying variances, and providing insights to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Assisting in the formulation and implementation of financial strategies for Building Envelopes projects and contracts.
  • Collaborating with project managers to manage job costing, track project profitability, and control overhead expenses effectively.
  • Producing month-end management accounts and reconciliations, maintaining an accurate chart of accounts.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and financial modeling for decision-making.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver key financial analytics, insights, and recommendations.
Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant, preferably in the construction or building materials sector.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as Quick Books, SAP, Excel, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day as a Management Accountant in our client’s team would include:

  • Producing and reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Meeting with project leaders to discuss project performance and analyze financial data.
  • Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies or unusual spending patterns.
  • Reviewing budgets and advising on cost-saving opportunities or strategic resource allocation.
  • Utilizing financial modeling tools to evaluate potential investments and proposals.
  • Engaging stakeholders and presenting financial insights to decision-makers.
  • Preparing for external audits and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
  • Actively contributing to team meetings, bringing fresh ideas, and supporting a forward-thinking, inclusive culture.
